phantomcranefly: The Tenth Doctor, with text: "Why, oh why do I never learn to ascertain my time-space location on arrival?" (Default)
A few weeks ago, I followed a long and rambly path around Livejournal and found myself at this post by [livejournal.com profile] lookninjas. I'm hesitant to quote the description wholesale, because this isn't actually a meme as far as I know, but the gist of it is that Someone On The Internet accused women of not being able to open jars. [livejournal.com profile] lookninjas  responded with the question:

"What would our favorite fictional females do with a jar that they couldn't open?"

I was tickled by this idea, and came up with a version for the Vorkosiverse.

Cordelia Vorkosigan: Instantly psychoanalyze the jar and convince it that opening was what it had really wanted all along.

Elena Bothari: Melt the top off the jar with a plasma arc.

Elli Quinn: Work a complicated shell game with her jar, three other jars, and a carton of dead newts until someone else takes the lid off her jar, thinking it's theirs.

Taura: Wait, what? Taura can twist a guy's head off. There is no such thing as a jar she can't open.

Ekaterin Vorsoisson: Design a more efficient jar.

Alys Vorpatril: Quietly set currents in motion around the Vorbarr Sultana social scene until the Council of Counts votes unanimously to switch to squeeze bottles and thinks it was their own idea.

So, who else wants to do this? [livejournal.com profile] bibliothekara, how would JJ or Garcia or Prentiss react? Let's see if we can get a meme going.
