Fun with interactive fiction
Jan. 21st, 2010 03:35 pmI've been playing a lot of IF recently, now that I have my own computer that I can download stuff onto, and really enjoying it once I figured out the rules. Up until then, I kept getting strange error messages. Here are a few of the funnier ones:
From Pytho's Mask, a mainly conversation-based game:
"Sun Court
A room the size of several ballrooms set edge to edge. The floor is worked in the image of the sun in full blaze: chips of tinted glass, silver, and gold, worked into a glittering mosaic....
>examine floor
You see nothing special about the floor."
(Wow, I'm jaded...)
This next one could've happened in any game, but I ran across it in The Dreamhold:
">go south
The door is closed and locked.
>unlock door
What do you want to unlock the door with?
>east
(first taking the direction east)
That isn't available."
(I didn't realize the game was actually asking me the question, and not just reminding me I didn't have any keys.)
