So Nanowrimo was never really in the cards for me, but this year I decided to try an experiment- see if I could write and post one story a week. (I almost wasn't going to, but then I came up with the title and knew I had to do it.) So far I'm almost a full week late on the posting part, but the writing was done on Monday, I swear. :P

Some context: this is a backstory snippet for my character in Legend of the Five Rings, which is very loosely based on medieval Japan. (I know.) Rei is seventeen here, the boys are eighteen.

And all this was assuming she didn’t just eschew the formalities and punch him in the face. )

So, I finally have enough characters for this meme, if you count NPCs. (And it takes way too long to randomize twelve characters using dice, I need to figure out a better way to do it if I’m going to do more of these.) And then I accidentally went somewhere else in the middle of writing this entry and lost half of it. So frustrating. Stolen from [insanejournal.com profile] writinstone

Choose twelve of your original characters in any particular order. PICK YOUR CHARACTERS FIRST! Then, answer the questions that follow. )

Whew. That was a lot longer than I thought it would be. Fun, though.

This is what happens when I watch an SVU marathon with Changeling goggles on.

The insanity begins... )

More to come as we think of it.

Or, How Janetha Rescued Her True Love from the Witch-Queen of the Centaur )

So, I've missed my goal of one post a week, but I figured I'd get the first half up while it's only a day late. I keep underestimating how long it'll take me to write things.
phantomcranefly: The Tenth Doctor, with text: "Why, oh why do I never learn to ascertain my time-space location on arrival?" (Default)
'I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience my murderous rampage may have caused.' )
phantomcranefly: The Tenth Doctor, with text: "Why, oh why do I never learn to ascertain my time-space location on arrival?" (Default)
'The Lady is my compass.' )
phantomcranefly: The Tenth Doctor, with text: "Why, oh why do I never learn to ascertain my time-space location on arrival?" (Default)
'So, explain to me why I should care?' )

So, not dead. I was super-busy last semester and I spent a while out of the summer just decompressing. My internship's in full swing now, and it's going okay. (I'm not used to working 9-5 while still coming up with things to implement on our own, so I feel kind of lost and useless sometimes, but it's turning out okay.)

I figured I'd do one character per post, rather than putting all my characters into one huge post, both so that I'd have less writing to do at a time and so that I can make a new post when I make a new character, rather than adding to the old one.

'...' )

I'm seriously irritated by this project. XCode on the lab computers got updated so I can't use the setup I was used to, and when I tried to use a computer at work it crashed before I could even open a new project, three times in a row. I'm out of motivation, too. I really don't care about this class anymore. So, because I'm procrastinating, have a meme!

So, I finally got my first REU application in... three minutes before the deadline. Anyone sane would be asleep right now. Instead, I'm going to post about World of Warcraft.

No, this isn't the character backstory post. That's coming later. )

Will get the newest Letter To Rozer and that WoW character post up at some point. In the meantime, here's a meme, from [livejournal.com profile] leahnari and [livejournal.com profile] cutlacesoflife :

1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" and I'll assign you the basis of some TV show idea. (post-apocalyptic scifi-fi drama, fantasy, noir gumshoe pulp, criminal procedure...IN SPACE, historical drama WITH WEREWOLVES, etc.).
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them.
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios, and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal.

...about a month and a half late. I think I've forgotten half of what happened. Oh well.

Her doctor was worried because they didn’t know anything about Rita’s history, so Meg and Birdy made some stuff up. )
phantomcranefly: Pilot from Farscape, with text: "I don't get out much so I read." (Farscape)
So, I've been basically a shut-in all vacation, except for numerous doctor's appointments. So not much interesting to talk about there, except that I've been playing a lot of WoW.

Cut for Latin grammar nerdery )

So, this entry is just for notes to myself, so that I have someplace to keep track of what I've done on my DCG final without having to a) have the right notebook with me or b) log into something distracting. (Although I'll still need to log in when I want to change it, but this is good enough.)

Cut for long lists that probably no one else cares about )

Dear Rozer and Jeremy and Verity and Deadeye and Mimi,

I had this almost done, when I clicked on one of the bookmarks on my toolbar instead of another tab, and discovered that Dreamwidth apparently doesn't save drafts like Livejournal does.  Darn it.

Cut for length, because I am getting this thing up anyway. )

Rita and Gliss and Birdy and I all went as princesses )

[ This letter comes after a sudden silence of a week and a half.]
And I don't think Birdy has minions either. Except maybe her cult. )

Because this is clearly what I need to be doing instead of my Assembly homework. At least I'm practicing the past perfect.

Intrate et legite! )
